Mothers' Surprise!

Jesus often talked about the surprises that will abound in the Kingdom of God. He talked about the first being the last and also of those who assume they would be invited on the basis of having done great things like miracles, teachings, etc only to be rejected.

But there is another group of people He didn’t talk about who I think will be honoured in Heaven: Mothers! Yes I know some mother abuse their children, but this article focuses on those who do not abuse their rights and privileges over their kids.

Mothers are special to God, for the influence and sacrifice they give their kids. Long before a kid learns to say thank you or have decent conversations, it is mother who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes. It is she who has to clean soiled bottoms for the umpteenth time while juggling house chores. It is she who has to wake up almost hourly at night to feed an ever hungry baby. It is she who gets to comfort baby when dad hands him back after two seconds. It is she who reads to him even before he can understand what the words mean. It is she who never stops loving her children. Long after her son has left home and is a father, she still refers to him as ‘my baby’.

Unfortunately many mothers are not supported. People wonder what is so special about it, they make it look like some mothers are just whining when they ask for support. They gruffly reply, “are you the first mother?” Forgetting that a little support here and there will lead to a more replenished and happier mom.

If you are a mom and feel overwhelmed , please know there is Someone who thinks the world of you. Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Someone who appreciates your unselfish and sacrificial love. There is Someone whose heart beats in the same rhythm as yours. The Bible shows us numerous times how God’s love for us as is as unconditional and protective as a mother’s.  in Matthew 23:37 Jesus lamented, "

And in Isaiah 49:15, "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!  Again in Isaiah 66:13, God tell us, “ As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you...”

So be comforted that the Almighty God delights in you and what you do. He is proud of you and is silently cheering you on. Even if no one supports or encourages you, remember you are doing the greatest job on earth:putting aside your comfort for the comfort of a baby 24/7. And the One who gave you that baby will reward you for your efforts. So please don’t listen to the voices in your head that tell you nobody cares. God cares and He is delighted with your nurture and love.
Stay strong sister, God appreciates what you do.

Happy Mother's Day dear !!!
