I remember my wedding day. It was special. Very special. My darling
groom was immaculately
dressed, he had travelled thousands of miles to
be married to me. I too was beautifully dressed. I was gorgeous! I had
been attended to by the hairstylist, manicurist, make-up artiste,..etc.
My white gown was spotless and fitted perfectly. I was ready.
As I walked
down the aisle to stand close to my groom , I could see all our family
and friends straining to have a glance at this beautiful bride. My
husband was no different. I saw him smiling as he beheld the object of
his affection. The woman of his dreams finally becoming his wife
forever. So he waited patiently, he knew it was going to happen soon.
In
the same way dear people of God we have a Groom who is waiting
patiently for his Bride, the Church. The Heavenly hosts and angels will
be the guests at the Wedding of the Lamb with His Bride. Are we ready?
Are our robes spotless? Are we busy about the work He gave us? Are we
getting primed up for Him alone?
That day will come
like a thief in the night, without notice. May we not be caught unawares.
I pray we don’t stop getting ready because we feel the Master has
tarried too long. May we like soldiers be ready at all times. Come Lord
Jesus come!
Watchfulness - Luke 12:35-48
35“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36like
servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so
that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for
him. 37It
will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when
he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have
them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38It
will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if
he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39But
understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the
thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
41Peter asked, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?”
42The
Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the
master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance
at the proper time? 43It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. 44Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
45But
suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time
in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and
women, and to eat and drink and get drunk. 46The
master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him
and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign
him a place with the unbelievers.
47“The
servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not
do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48But
the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be
beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will
be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much
more will be asked.
There is a day that all creation's waiting for,
A day of freedom and liberation for the earth.
And on that day the Lord will come to meet His bride,
And when we see Him in an instant we'll be changed
The trumpet sounds and the dead will then be raised
By His power never to perish again.
Once only flesh now clothed with immortality,
Death has now been swallowed up in victory
Chorus:
We will meet Him in the air and then we will be like Him
For we will see Him, as He is
Oh yeah!
Then all hurt and pain will cease and we'll be with Him forever
And in His glory we will live
Oh yeah! Oh yeah!
So lift your eyes to the things as yet unseen,
That will remain now for all eternity.
Though trouble's hard, it's only momentary
And it's achieving our future glory.
